WORDS/wərds/

When words are just Sounds
Beating Pounding noises
Recognizable tunes
Played Over and over Again
Like a Broken record
That plays Your favorite Song
Except the Meaning is gone
No Lyrics just Sounds
Feeble Increments of breath
Bad air
You are Not wanted Here
Your Huffing and Puffing
Has Sucked Out the life
My life
Your Life
Wasted time
Keep It
Your Noise is No longer Welcomed
The Dryness of your well
Overwhelms
No substance
No Thoughts
Just air
No Cares
You must Be exhausted
Your False prophecies and Idiocies
Have Cost far More Pain than gain
So Keep your wasted Air
It is Not Wanted Here

REACH/rēCH/

Have You ever Reached for something
That wasn’t There?
I finally realized I’ve been Holding on to Air
Grasping and panting for Something that was invisible
I put you on a pedestal
I made You a Hero
You know the Original Black Knight
You broke all the Rules and just lived life
No cares in the world
No One to hold you back
Keeping every Emotion in tact
Master of Passion
Young and free
I was so Open
I Couldn’t see
What it was from the Start
Wanting to believe it was me
That I was Afraid to be the Damsel in distress
But Every Hero has a flaw
And Every damsel has a Cause
I craved you
I made myself believe something I couldn’t see
Told myself Lies to disguise the Truth
Have you ever reached for something
That wasn’t there?
I finally realized I’ve been Holding on to Air

POWER/ˈpou(-ə)r/

Yes I know it’s been a minute since my last post, but I’m back and ready to work! I know everyone has made New Year’s Resolutions on how 2014 will be there Best Year EVER!! I LOVE that we can speak things into existence, visualize it and work for it, but I know I’m not perfect so I’m asking God to mold me into what he wants me to be this year. I tried doing it on my own and it didn’t work so I’m going to give it all to him! I want to dedicate 2014 to serving God and putting him first in everything I do! If I do that then I don’t need a New Year’s Resolution. However, there is nothing wrong with adding some self-goals for the New Year. I know the most common New Year’s Resolution for most is to get fit and live a healthier life. Now you may not have additional funds to spend on a gym membership or time to workout, so I have a fun suggestion!! I’m an 80’s baby that loves the 90’s especially 90’s films (yes I know “Do the Right Thing” was made in 89, but that’s technically the 90’s Hahahaha). Anyway as you know from one of my previous post I am a Huge Spike Lee fan being that “Mo Betta Blues” is one of my all-time favorite movies. About a month ago I was scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch while I fold clothes and I decided to click on “Do the Right Thing”. It’s been so long since I watched it that I forgot about the looooooooong opening credits, but boy am I glad I observed it instead of skipping through it like most people do. Rosie Perez dances her butt off for a good 5 minutes straight while grooving to Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power”. As I tried to mimic her while folding I realized that I was getting the workout of my life lol! So the next time you’re folding clothes or doing something around the house watch “Do the Right Thing” and get your Rosie Perez on. Dancing is the best way to workout without noticing that your actually working out! Plus the scene is so Powerful that you can’t help but join her! Happy New Years : )

I was watching a guilty pleasure of mine which I will not share simply because I do not want to be judged on the content of television I watch!  Ha SO SUE me : )  Anyway on this particular episode a woman asked her friend how to get over hurt.  She wanted to know what the best solution was in dealing with her pain, frustration and anger.  Her friend simply replied Time!  Time heals all wounds! Letting go of the pain isn’t always easy and numbing it is only temporary.  Time helps you grow and eventually let go.  But having a great support system makes things a lot easier.  We have all been hurt before or disappointed by someone in our lives, but we go through different things for different reasons.  Just remember that everything has a Season!  Your pain and your frustration is only temporary and it too shall pass : )

Happy Friday People!!! I am so excited about life today : ) Yes I know I should be excited about life every time I wake up with a pulse, but hey I’m human. Well today I wanted to share a clip with you that really stirred my spirit. The talented Janelle Monae premiered her video Q.U.E.E.N. featuring Erykah Badu on BET’s 106 and park the other day and it was pure Ah-Mazingness (yes I made that word up) Sue Me!! Well Janelle went crazy when the video came on and I loved every minute of it!! I felt her passion…I felt her excitement… I felt her energy and it was EVERYTHING. I think when an artist is passionate about their music it ignites an indescribable fire in the listener. I love the song Q.U.E.E.N it’s fun, it’s powerful and it makes me feel good. When I hear the song I immediately want to jump to my feet and dance. I want music to tell me a story, get me through a break up, make me dance or bring the emotions I felt in my head to life! That is the power of music and that is what it is intended to do : )

Janelle Monae – Queen lyrics

I can’t believe I love the things they say about me
Walk in the room they throwing shade left to right
They be like ooh, she’s serving face
And I just tell em, cut me up, and get down
They call us dirty ‘cuz we break all your rules down
And we just came to act a fool, is that all right (Girl, that’s alright)
They be like Ooh, let them eat cake
But we eat wings and throw them bones on the ground
Am I a freak for dancing around? (queen)
Am I a freak for getting down? (queen)
I’m cutting up, don’t cut me down
Yeah I wanna be, wanna be
Is it peculiar that she twerk in the mirror?
And am I weird to dance alone late at night?
And is it true we’re all insane?
And I just tell ’em No we ain’t” and get down
I heard this life is just a play with no rehearsal
I wonder will this be my final act tonight
And tell me what’s the price of fame?
Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?
Am I a freak for dancing around?
Am I a freak for getting down?
I’m coming up, don’t cut me down
Yeah I wanna be
Hey brother can you save my soul from the devil?
Say is it weird to like the way she wear her tights?
And is it rude to wear my shades?
Am I a freak because I love watching Mary? (Maybe)
Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven?
Say will your God accept me in my black and white?
Will he approve the way I’m made?
Or should I reprogram the programming and get down?
Even if it makes others uncomfortable
I wanna love who I am
Even if it makes other uncomfortable
I will love who I am
Dance ’til the break of dawn
Don’t mean a thing, so duh
I can’t take it no more
Baby, we in tuxedo groove
Monae and E. Badu
Crazy in the black and white
We got the drums so tight
Baby, here comes the freedom song
Too strong we moving on
Baby there’s melody
Show you another way
This joints for fight unknown
Come home and sing your song
But you gotta testify
Because the booty don’t lie
No, no, the booty don’t lie
Oh no, the booty don’t lie
Yeah
Yeah, Let’s flip it
I don’t think they understand what I’m trying to say
I asked a question like this
“Are we a lost generation of our people?
Add us to equations but they’ll never make us equal.
She who writes the movie owns the script and the sequel.
So why ain’t the stealing of my rights made illegal?
They keep us underground working hard for the greedy,
But when it’s time pay they turn around and call us needy.
My crown too heavy like the Queen Nefertiti
Gimme back my pyramid, I’m trying to free Kansas City.
Mixing masterminds like your name Bernie Grundman.
Well I’m gonna keep leading like a young Harriet Tubman
You can take my wings but I’m still goin’ fly
And even when you edit me the booty don’t lie
Yeah, keep singing and I’mma keep writing songs
I’m tired of Marvin asking me, “What’s Going On?
March to the streets ‘cuz I’m willing and I’m able
Categorize me, I defy every label
And while you’re selling dope, we’re gonna keep selling hope
We rising up now, you gotta deal you gotta cope
Will you be electric sheep?
Electric ladies, will you sleep?
Or will you preach?”

THIRST /THərst/

Its Comeback Season
But I’m Still Sleep
I Hear the rustle of the Wind
She Craves the Hustle of the Streets
The Fear creates an Attraction Many seek
But the Lifestyle has a Peak
Like everything that Comes fast Goes
But only those who Lived it really Know
Trying to separate the Old me from the New
Fighting a past that Others like to review
I’m not Her
She’s not Me
We are Two
When She comes I Go
When She leaves I Retrieve
Somedays are easy
Others not so much
Trying to put a Blindfold
On the  Nighttime Rush
Its Comeback Season
But I’m still Sleep
I Hear the Rustle of the wind
She Craves the Hustle of the Streets
